My Love For Soap Making & Soap Wrap Manila Sending Love To You
I've been trying so hard to juggle my time with work, doing my hobbies and family life. I enjoy doing creative stuff, and even though I am busy with just about everything in life and at home I make sure that I have my creative corner in the house to relax and hopefully create something beautiful.
I discovered my love for soap making early this year when I was pregnant with Tali. What started to be just a hobby while I was pregnant is now looking good as a potential business. I have always been a fan of DIY and my addiction to soap making all started out when I learned how to do melt and pour by just watching some tutorial videos from youtube. For those of you who doesn't know what a melt and pour is, melt and pour is the very basic way to make soaps by using pre-made glycerine or soap base. It's so basic that all you have to do is to melt the soap base in a double boiler, play with colors, add some scent and pour it in playful, cute shaped soap molds.
At first it was fun, until it got boring. So I started making soaps to the next level, by making bath soaps from scratch! I made lots of research. I watched videos, read some articles and learned how to use the soap calculator. When I felt like I was totally ready to make soaps from scratch, I immediately bought some raw materials and other things that I need to start with soap making. I've been making my own soaps from then on. At home, we also use the soaps I make and it's really good for the skin. I always had skin asthma since I was a little girl and going all natural with my soap is the way to go!
What I do now is called cold process soap making, it's where you mix different kinds of natural oils such as virgin coconut oil, palm oil, olive oil etc. with lye to produce bars of soap. In making soaps I'd like to be extra creative by using different colors and mixing different kinds of scents but sometimes simple looks better just like the picture of the beehive soap with vanilla scent I made below. I still have a very long way to go to be able to learn everything about soaping. I am still trying to improve my soaps in every batch that I make. I try my very best to make every batch of soap better than the last.
From the moment I started learning how to make soaps, I have managed to collect different kinds of fun looking artisan soaps. The plan was to sell everything. And so, Soap Wrap Manila joined its very first bazaar last weekend and it was a huge success! Along with the soaps I also sell different kinds of handmade products such as lip balms, solid perfumes, hand balms, handmade pomade and mustache wax. Almost all of these were sold out during the bazaar! I plan to introduce some more products by next year! Please watch out for that! :)
A week later after the bazaar, Unang Hirit at GMA7 called me for a quick feature of my products on their morning show. The feature was yesterday and I hope most of you guys were able to watch it. Everything good that has been happening for Soap Wrap Manila won't be as good without the support from you guys! From the bottom of my heart, thank you!!
I would like to also thank my friends and family who have been very supportive of me and my hobby. Sending all my love to you!! Special thanks to my blogger friends Hannah Galang-Dumlao and Gladys Gozon for the product review. Please click on their names to read the product review on their respective blogs.
It's been a busy week and I'm loving it! Please like #soapwrapmanila on facebook and instagram.
