For more than five years of being a kitchen-sales designer, I already know all the ins and outs of a great kitchen. Designing a kitchen is just like designing a whole house where in every detail is important and every corner must be of good use. Kitchen is where the heart of the home is, this is where every mother prepare their family's food. While prepapring food for the family, the children would probably go to the kitchen and try to help out their mom. The father will most likely go to the kitchen too and comment on how good the food is. Everything in the kitchen is made with love. This is where our morning start as we brew our coffee and fry pancakes for breakfast. When moms are busy baking for the weekend, it is the place where the yummy smell of a newly baked cake comes from. And lastly, this is where our day ends as we prepare a nice meal and eat dinner as a family before calling it a night. These are just few of the many reasons why kitchen is one of the most important places at home. Of course, designing a kitchen will always depend on how the lifestyle of the family is, but as a kitchen designer here are my top kitchen essentials.

Over head cabinets / Open Shelves
This is the number one essential for every kitchen. An over head cabinet or an open shelf is a storage where you can get kitchen needs on the go. Having a cabinet or a shelf in the kitchen will also help you keep things in the kitchen organized.

Pantry Cabinet
Pantry is where all the groceries go. We don't want our groceries laying around the kitchen, that is why you will be needing a tall pantry cabinet to stock all dry goods and emergency food you have at home.

Corner Unit Carousel
Carousel is installed in a corner unit kitchen cabinet. It will not only help you maximize space but it will also help you reach things in the corner easily. Effortlessly, you can slide the carousel out if you wish to get something inside the cabinet instead of awkwardly reaching in.

Spice Rack Cabinet
Provide yourselves a spice rack that is free standing or installed on the kitchen cabinet just like the picture above, this way all your spices are organized in just one place. All spices must be found in one drawer to avoid clutter.

Pull-out shelf organizer
A pull-out shelf organizer is useful for a more organized plates, utnesils, pots and pans. These are the things that are used for eating and food preparation so it must be kept clean at all times. Ventilation in the kitchen is a must! We don't want our houses to smell like dinner. A range hood is placed on top of a range where we cook our food, make sure to always turn the hood on when preparing something to eat.

This doesn't apply to small kitchens. But an island is really an essential for every kitchen for more work space and work table when you're cooking or baking.

Breakfast nook
A breakfast nook is usually connected to a kitchen island where you can eat on the go. A breakfast nook is best for people who doesn't seem to have time for breakfast and wants everything fast. Breakfast nook is also a best place where you and some invited friends can hang-out for a quick to go food.
Every family has a different lifestyle, eating pattern and cooking habits. And to lay-out a kitchen for a house that you own, make sure that it fits your lifestyle. Always remember that in designing a space, everything should be according to how you move inside the house, in this case inside your kitchen. Design your kitchen according to your lifestyle and personality.
