Skin Care For Every Decade

This post was supposed to be published 3 days ago, but it has been really busy lately. I never expected that juggling time with work and taking care of my 2month old daughter could be so hard. Yep! I know, first time mom problems!
Before sleeping which usually is my only time to rest, I love streaming OWN (Oprah Winfrey Network) online and while watching random episodes, I stumbled upon an episode wherein a dermatologist was discussing recommended skincare routine and skin care products for different ages. Based on my statistics most of my readers are ages 25-35 years old, but in this post I'll be discussing recommended skin care routine every woman should do up until they are 50. I'll be imparting with you what I have learned from OWN and also add a little bit of my own ideas as to how women of different ages should take care for their skin.
20's
This is the time where most girls take their skin for granted. But according to OWN this is the most important decade of your skin, how you take care of your skin now will determine how you will look for the rest of your life. At any age it is important that you always remember to clean your face day and night, I know it is so tempting to go straight to bed after a night out with your make-up on, but this is really a big no-no to do. Don't forget to moisturize your skin every time you wash it, I recommend using anti-aging products as early as now to prevent early skin aging. Never forget to use sun screen especially when you're always out of the house.
30's
At this age probably you're skin is still not that bad, but to avoid further skin damage start using vitamin-c infused products. Products with vitamin-c can help reduce discoloration of the skin due to sun damage or long hours of sun exposure. At your 30's it is important not to skip sunscreen on your everyday skin care routine or you can use a moisturizer with enough SPF in it during the day. At night, I recommend you to use a moisturizer with retinol. Retinol can help the skin to act and look younger.
40's
During this age you are losing more collagen and elasticity on the skin. Don't forget to exfoliate the skin once or twice a week and continue to moisturize day and night. Fine lines will start to appear so it is best to use a moisturizer with retinoid as the main ingredient, this way your skin will produce collagen naturally and will make your skin thicker and smoother.
50's
In your 50's throw away all those foamy facial wash and switch to a cream or oil based facial wash. At this age your skin will start to dry, so it is really recommended for you to moisturize, moisturize, moisturize! If you have time to wash and moisturize your skin three times a day, do it! It is best to use vitamin packed serum during this age to brighten and revive your skin. If you know a product with caffeine in it, like products that are infused with green tea, use that to make your skin firm.
Yes, most of us are probably very busy. Especially if you are a mom trying to juggle time with work and taking care of your families, but that doesn't give you an excuse not to take care of yourselves. Have a break! Schedule at least once a week to pamper yourselves. Visit the salon or the dermatologist for a facial, do whatever it is that will make you feel relaxed at least four times a month, you deserve it!
